I tried a few episodes of season 10 and just couldn't bear the Ori arc. Because I know next to nothing about Egyptian anything, whenever Daniel identified a certain Goa'uld, I was always rather impressed. But his identifying garbled Arthurian legend... painful. He came across as someone who played too much D&D as a kid. Demystifying Arthurian legends, making them "sciency," made me wince.

The Ori were not much fun to watch as bad guys. Hey, the Goa'uld were gorgeous. And wore little in the way of clothes. And they were arrogant, corrupt, and loved spectacle. What's not to love? I always had some ambivalence about the Goa'uld. On the one hand, they were bad. On the other hand -- with the exception of the one that looked like an overloaded towel-rack, Anubis -- they were unselfconsciously evil. Merely self-serving to an extreme.
