1. What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now?
I don't have a working bathtub. Shower has an empty body gel and a bar of Zest. Most the other soap in the house is unscented antibacterial liquid.
2. Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator?
Just disposed of the last of it. Still have a quarter of a muskmelon.
3. Is there anything moldy in your refrigerator?
I don't think so, unless Blue Ribbon Blue Cheese.
What happened to #4?
Funny how we obediently reproduce all the questions. <== what Res said.
5. What would you change about your living room?
We've been talking about new furniture for over a year. The rug is worse for wear due to the puppy that arrived 18 mos ago. I like the general arrangement though-it took years to hit on it.
6. Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty?
It's after dinner, so they'll be dirty until some time in the middle fo the night (yay for timers).
7. Do you have a can of mushrooms in your pantry?
Yes. DH has a fondness for them.
8. White or wheat/brown bread?
Usually oatmeal. High fiber, high protein, and tasty.
9. What is on top of your refrigerator?
Three or four disposable aluminum baking pans.
10. What color is your sofa?
Dark blue - nearly black.
11. What color or design is on your shower curtain?
It's clear with mesh pockets.
12. How many plants are in your home?
DH has the green thumb, and we still have most the plants he had when we met. Most of them live outside during summer but in winter it's a tropical paradise. There are 6-7 very large ficus and shefflaras, and always a bunch of smaller things like xmas cactus, violets and herbs. He also forces bulbs in winter and brings home anything in bloom in the spring.
13. How many candles are in your home?
At least one in every room including bathrooms. We frequently light candles at dinner (especially in winter) and usually light the bathroom ones when we're entertaining.
14. Is your bed made right now?
Yes! We've gotten good at doing it daily.
15. If you have a coffee pot, what color is it?
Clear. It's a french press.
16. Electric or standard can opener?
Standard.
17. Comet or Soft Scrub?
Neither. But here's an interesting tidbit: in college I had to do a side-by-side comparison and present my findings for a class, and these were the products I used! My final word on the subject was "Buy Comet!"
18. Is your closet organized?
Mostly. I have to work at it though. Although I do automatically group my clothes by color.
19. What color is the flashlight that you use the most?
Black.
20. What kinds of things are in your junk drawer?
Tools, twisty ties, electrical socket adapters, glue (several types), and a tape measure. Also safety glasses.
21. Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home?
Glass. I collect glassware like other people collect dust bunnies. May as well use it.
22. Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now?
No. I like sun tea but haven't made it in years.
23. If you have a garage, is it cluttered?
Yes and no. the sides and front are cluttered even though they're also equipped with shelves and cabinets. The middle is clear enough to park both cars. That's not always true.
24. Curtains or blinds?
They each have their use, but I generally prefer bare windows (DH says it's the californian in me). This house came with wooden shutters on every window. I've nearly eradicated all of them. I've got homemade tab tops in the dining room which are pretty cute. They've got stamped on dragonflies in 2-3 shades of blue. I might get around to installing valances on the other windows some day.
25. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two.
26. Do you sleep with any lights on at night?
Not now, but I used to. Also, if I'm in a strange place I prefer to leave a light on so I don't trip on my way to the bathroom.
27. How many ceiling fans are in your home?
I was going to say none, but then I remembered the small one in the kitchen.
28. How often do you vacuum?
I vacuum rarely. DH is retired/disabled, so he's doing the lion's share of the housework. If he's got the spoons, he does it twice a week to attempt to keep up with the 4 hairy pets.
30. What color is your toothbrush?
Green. Almost always.
31. Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch?
As in it actually says "welcome"? No. We do have three mats between the two front doors though. (Weird WI architecture). One is plain black and covers nearly the entire front stoop. One is a colorful striped rug on the screened porch, and one is shaped like home plate and says "home" on it.
32. What is in your oven right now?
Oven racks.
33. Is your microwave clean or dirty?
It could use some attention. I'm usually the one who notices first.
34. Is there anything under your bed?
Two roll-out plastic bins that house the bed linens and an assortment of weird shit.
35. Chore you hate doing the most?
Dusting! I'm with Res on this one. Best birthday present ever was when a friend dusted my entire house :)
36. What retro items are in your home?
Retro? We collect alot of glassware and dishes, tea cups and pots, various antiques. Nothing too 60s or 70s though. The thing I think qualifies the most is an electric percolator/coffee urn with red Bakelite handles. I don't believe it's ever been used.
37. Do you have a separate room that you use as an office?
Yes. I'm currently working from home.
38. If you have a yard, who mows it?
Used to be 75% the boy, 25% spouse. Now it's a nice guy that comes once a week, because I got tired of the arguments with the boy and DH doesn't have the spoons.
39. Is there anything on your kitchen floor right now?
Pet bowls (two for dogs, one for cats, plus communal watering station), large rug at back door to keep pets from tracking in mud. Floor perpetually needs mopping.
40. How many mirrors are in your home?
Nine or ten?
41. Do you have any hidden emergency money around your home?
Not at the moment. I'm all tapped out from the summer, but I usually have a few (small)bills tucked away.

Every room is different. There are only two (bathrooms) we've never painted in 13 yrs of being here.
43. Which rooms in your house have wallpaper?
I hate wallpaper. When we bought the house we ripped it all down. One bathroom has a border though.
44. Do you have a peephole in your front door?
The majority of the official front door is glass. The kitchen door has 3 amber panes but you can't see through them and they're too high for the likes of me to use anyway.
45. Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home?
Coupla baseball bats and golf clubs. The two guns are antique hunting rifles that belonged to the father-in-law, with the firing pins/mechanisms removed. There's a bow, but I think the boy lost all the arrows.
46. What does your home smell like right now?
Homemade marinara and garlic toast.
47. Favorite candle scent?
Either vanilla or evergreen.
48. What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now?
OMG, we are pickle fiends. There are dill spears and relish, pickled veggies from our garden, plus commercial giardinara, refrigerator pickles from the bucket of cukes we got at the farmer's market, pepper rings, pickled ginger, bread and butter, and hamburger slices. The watermelon was pretty pickled as well, from soaking in vodka, lol.
49. Who are in the pictures you have displayed?
It's all family - a nice array of black framed portraits in the entry, clusters of frames on the bedroom furniture, and snapshots on the refrigerator. There used to be 4 times as many as now, but I got tired of dusting them all.
50. What color is your favorite religious book?
NA.

Yes! Although it's all full, and I've got overflow on shelves in the basement.
52. Ever been on your roof?
Yes.
53. Do you own a stereo?
Yes? Does it count if it doesn't have a turntable?
54. How many TVs do you have?
Two - the boy claimed the last one we replaced so it's still here.
55. How many house phones?
Three.
56. Do you have a housekeeper?
DH!
57. What style do you decorate in?
It's comfortable, cozy, and we wage a constant battle against clutter. I'm very fond of the blue/yellow scheme, but most of our yellow has disappeared over time. The bedrooms are soft and restful shades of green and lavender. The entry is tangerine and saffron (for warmth and welcome).
58. Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints?
Mostly solids.
59. Is there a smoke detector in your home?
One on each floor, plus 2 CO detectors.
60. In case of fire, what are the items you would grab if you only could make one quick trip?
If I'm inside, I'm getting the pets and my purse and yelling at DH to get his meds. I might grab pictures from the entry on the way out. If I'm outside, I don't know that I'd get it together enough to decide what to go in for. It's all stuff after all.
61. Do you know how to work your electrical box?
Yes, and I've mapped all the circuits too so I almost always turn off the right one on the first try.
62. What temperature in your home is most comfortable to you?
We keep it around 76 in summer and 65 in winter. We used to have a hefty setback in winter, but DH doesn't handle extremes too well anymore.
