Fan Girl Meet Up!

Okay, I'm back from my whirlwind tour of the Dakotas, so it's time to finalize plans for the meet up.

I will host all fan girls (or boys) who want to attend at my home in Fitchburg on Sunday, Aug. 26 for a brunch-like gathering.  I'm happy to provide all the consumables unless someone else wants to pass a dish or beverage.  Please leave dietary restrictions in the comments with your RSVP.  Starting time - no earlier than 11 am, and we'll just play it by ear after that.

We've figured out how to connect our laptops to our HD TV finally, so we will be able to screen anything from vids, to TV shows (Netflix, etc) or DVDs.  I've seen lots of vid recs since Vividcon, so I expect we'll try at least some of those, and I'm totally looking forward to Dira's pimping of Generation Kill.

Please signal boost to our local folks who may not be reading here - the more, the merrier!

Right now I am eating no dairy, no soy. :/

I will try to remember to bring my external hard drive, which has most of my vid collection. :D

We're already doing no lactose here, so no dairy isn't an issue - but to clarify, we've found yogurt products are lactose free, so if you're truly *no dairy* I'll need to know.
No soy isn't too tough for a brunch.

I'm futzing with my diet somewhat, so at this point I'll think I'll do no lactose rather than no dairy (which will be a nice change). :)

I have this year's VividCon DVDs, so I can bring those, along with Gen Kill--and if people don't want to watch whole GK episodes, I have a set of good-bits clips I made to introduce the characters and relationships. :D

I will be there. I'm allergic to onions (including scallions). I'm sorry, I know this SUCKS for cooking. I can eat garlic, though! While I generally try to avoid wheat products, I am not averse to trying things like cake or breads I have not had before, in small quantities. I am otherwise an adventurous eater who eats meat, and loves veggies and fruits.

I'm not sure I can handle watching Generation Kill, but if you schedule it for last, I can leave before you get to that part! No hard feelings, I swear!

Well, I think you should bring whatever you feel like and we can all decide what to try on the spot.
I've got several old things (Sports Night, West Wing, Due South, and all the Marvel movies except Avengers, of course) and access to Netflix streaming.

I hear Teen Wolf is available through Netflix streaming. My f-list raves about it, and I've managed to get ahold of three episodes so far. It is surprisingly good for something called, you know, Teen Wolf.

Uh, hi? devildoll pointed me in this direction, and I've been wanting to meet up with some fangirls for awhile now, so I'm taking the plunge.

I see most of my food issues have already been covered (I'm allergic to soy and don't eat onions) except for that I don't eat seafood. Though, I'm not exactly sure that would be an issue in a brunch-like setting, I thought I'd throw it out there.

Also I do have all of Teen Wolf in HD, in case anyone wants to watch the train wreck that is my summer. (I have oodles of stuff - White Collar, Political Animals, illicitly obtained copies of all the Marvel movies...)

Hey there! Just got back from the woodsy-yet-very-hot North Woods, and I'm excited to be seeing this for the first time. I'd love to come. I can't remember if your house has a level entry, so I'll plan on bringing my walker-with-seat which I can muscle over steps.

I'm celiac — no gluten, therefore no wheat, barley (sob) or rye (sob^2) — but I'm not super allergic. If you sliced bread on a cutting board and then sliced a cucumber, I'd be OK.

I'll bring some dairy-free chocolate, because one can't have too much. I'm curious about Teen Wolf, since it brings to mind a very young Michael J Fox wearing a rug.

We do have 2 steps up to each of the front doors, but the main level is fairly wide open and totally level after that.

Fortunately, most of the menu is already gluten free, but in an unthinking moment, I used a tablespoon of flour for thickener for the crustless quiche (which I realized right after I did it, DOH) when I totally could have substituted something else.
