Sunday Update

It was a long and productive weekend.  Friends from Iowa arrived late Friday afternoon to help me whittle down the to-do list.

I bought the paint for the cabinets, and with the help of [personal profile] roguebitch, we got all the old cabinets prepped and primed.
We purchased the wall-mounted exterior lights and they have been installed.  I need to add lightbulbs and see why the one on the garage did not turn on tonight.
The remaining two wall cabinets were mounted.
Jubal took on the building of cubbies between the cabinets, and is nearly complete with his project.
I purchased the materials to make the shelves at the end of the countertop.
The counter and kitchen sink were installed (the stupid sink took all day Sat. what with the false starts and tight fit and leaky joints).
All the dirty dishes got washed!!
The miscellaneous holes in drywall were patched.
Rupert's bath had a lot of work done.  The floor is newly installed and looks good.  There is new wallboard lining the room.  There is a bathtub surround in place of the ugly green tile.  The countertop is not completely installed because the faucet is not completely installed.  A certain part broke and has to be replaced.  I have opted for my friend, Sarah's, repair/replacement technique this time.  It will be resolved soon.  There is a lot of caulking remaining, and I just realized I will need to get some wall base.  I have purchased two different handles to replace the shower handle.  Hopefully one will fit.
The dishwasher status remains somewhat vague.  I will investigate further tomorrow.
We dried parsley from the garden!

It was lovely to have visitors and helpers all weekend, and I really do appreciate all the effort expended.  I hope "Buddy" is doing well, and will be taken care of in the morning.  Hopefully, the mystery of what happened will be cleared up soon.

Currently, I'm sitting next to DH, and he's not the happiest camper.  He's got a fever and chills, but his gut x-ray from earlier in the evening showed nothing to be overly concerned with.  They're going to take blood cultures from all 3 of his lines in a few minutes, plus stick his arm.  They probably won't change anything much before morning, as he's still on serious antibiotics.  But these kinds of things really wear on him, especially after having such optimistic news this morning.  It's really all part of the process, but it's hard to remember that when you hurt.  We may still get to have him home by Halloween, and that's terrific news except for the fact that I'm not entirely done with the house and haven't done the thorough cleaning yet.  ::sigh::  "The trick to getting every thing done is knowing what to leave undone.*"

*I believe that's Eleanor Roosevelt, but I don't guarantee it.
