Books to review: Between Lovers, The Fabric of the Cosmos, and The Bonesetter's Daughter. All audio too!
Food to review:
ABDC September Dinner - all local all the time
Adventures in Moline - a pub (good beer, uninspired food), a terrible chinese buffet, a "fancy" chinese restaurant, Mom's truck stop, a pub-wannabee, an upscale italian place (way too pretentious but the penne in vodka sauce was delish), and ice in my white wine at the hotel bar.
Party report: Oktoberfest 21 was low key and lovely
Water damage report: Day after Oktoberfest, we had the toilet seal in Rupert's bath leak all over our bedroom ceiling. The plumber said it was missing a plastic ring that buffers the washer. It's fixed, but the drying equip is still making the bedroom sound like an international prop flight. Repairs to the wall & ceiling will come soon, I hope.
Kids: Homecoming festivities occupied them last week, now they're back to being typical teens - slacking on chores and fighting with each other. I believe Mavis is suffering from PMS, I know *I* am.
DH: First session of physical therapy today - wore him out. Lots of exercises to do before going back in 3 wks. Tomorrow, I'm accompanying him to a full day of appointments.
Work: Meh. Don't know why I even bothered with Moline this week - the PM was on site nearly the entire time I was there. the Madison job is coming down to the wire. Nobody is screaming at each other yet, so that's good.
Weight: All time HIGH. ARggh.
Creative stuff: uh. yeah. what?
Thinky thoughts: 3+ hrs of driving twice a week plus the solitude of a hotel room allows for lots of thinking. Unfortunately, I have yet to put pen to paper, or electrons to screen, as it were.
