Hey, I'm Back!

I've been in Indiana since last wednesday, so I missed birthdays (happy belated wishes to Dad and [profile] leathermines) and almost missed [profile] busman1994 and Sis (but they're tomorrow.  Sorry if I missed anyone else.

So Wed, I flew to South Bend, then drove to Valparaiso, so that on Thurs I could spend all day at the Westville Correctional facility, where I was nominally training the local project team to use some web-based software.  [profile] barley52 was the recipient of one of my better e-rants that day.  Thanks for lending the virtual ear, hon!  Does anyone here know anyone thicker than a 14th century brick?  No?  Heh.  I do.  Fri had me back at the facility for the monthly progress meeting, wherein I scribed (not really my forte, but apparently I'm better at it than anyone else on the team), and then beat feet back to South Bend for the flight home, because South Bend is in a different time zone than Valparaiso.  This was the first full day after the latest terrorist bruhaha, so I had to check my brand new, absolutely beautiful, chestnut leather carry-on with the wheels and the long enough telescoping handle, to avoid tossing out my skin care stuff.  I got the dang thing so I'd never have to check luggage again!!  Amazingly enough, all of my flights went smoothly and landed early. the only hiccup was trying to retrieve the aforementioned bag.  Apparently the person in charge of putting the flight numbers on the baggage carousels was on a smoke break, and we played musical conveyor belt for about 20 min.

Saturday was the "DAY OF PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS" and an absolutely fine time was had by all.  [profile] barley52, [profile] bzdchris[profile] busman1994 and I have volunteered together for 3 years now, and we think we have the best assignment and shift ever.  We also usually get to work with some very cool folks every year, including the repeats T, N & B (One year, fully one-half of the crew was poly!).  We love our volunteer coordinators, Mark & Mike for having us back every year too.  We get to unload brewer's vehicles 9:30 -11:30 am, and then start sampling the special offerings while the 5000 paying attendees stand outside the gate drooling until 1:00 pm.  We've frequently roped other folks into attending or volunteering with us, and this year was no exception.  I suspect the new faces, [profile] emorog and R had as much fun as we did.  This year, I managed not to get soooo looped that I molested or flashed unsuspecting brewers and such, but there was still a great deal of flirting and a little bit of snogging going on. And I got a cool new pair of shiny red "pants" out of it. It seems that in addition to the volunteering tradition, B & I have a ongoing side-tradition of alcohol-fueled horniness, which brings us home to some interesting after parties.  Apparently this year, we may have alarmed the new neighbors somewhat with our "camping" escapade.  ::g::  (We like to sleep in a tent in the backyard sometimes, and this was the first time this summer we did it - but we didn't sleep).

Sunday, we weren't too hung-over (amazing what a little lot of exercise will do), but I realized I did have a memory gap.  B assures me that I didn't actually flash the cab driver, despite prompting from various parties including the driver, because I remember getting IN the cab, and then sitting down on the deck to eat peach pie.  That translates into about 20 missing minutes that could have gone horribly wrong.

Monday, I had to get up early to drive to Indianapolis, to train some JCI folks in the afternoon.  That time change thingy just about ruined my timing too, but it all worked out.  Tuesday (hey! that's today!) I spent the morning at the Plainfield Correctional Facility in a redux of last Thursday (but without the bricks).  At 0940 central time, I was on the road for home, whcih was a pleasant surprise, because I was originally scheduled to stay until Wed am.  So, Yay, Me! I got home at 1630.  I'll talk about the audio books in a separate post.

And the too-good-to-hide-behind-a-cut-INSTA-REC:

After dinner at the Dane, I came home to my flist and found Patience is a Virtue by [personal profile] 30toseoul, which is OMG Scorching! and I know a couple of my pervy friends will appreciate it mightily (yes, B, this means you too).  I just have to say, I usually avoid new-to-me writers like the plague, but [personal profile] 30toseoul totally won me over with her first couple of posts, and now I'm just a pavlovian mess anytime I see her name pop up on my flist.  This woman can bring the HAWT.
