fullygoldy: Peanuts Gang Dancing (Dance Fever)
Yes, I am forgetful, and didn't mention these good things that happened over the weekend:

On Saturday, Mavis's cheer squad won the state championship up in Green Bay. Yay!! Last year they were second. This is a non-stunting team too, so they rely heavily on precision and technical details. It was a very long day, with her leaving on an 0525 bus and not returning until 2300. When she got home, she was tired, but too excited to sleep for awhile.

Also on Saturday, when we returned from the hospital, there was a message light blinking. It was DH's #2 son, and he sounded pretty smug as he said, "I've got something to tell you." Well, that kind of smugness can only be two things - either he's impregnated someone, or has popped the question to some hapless woman. DH voted for both, with the latter resulting from the former, and called back. So yes, friends, DH is going to be a grandpa.

The grand is due in October, and the mom is shacked up with the daddy, but they don't plan to tie the knot. #2 lost his job late January, got the baby news the following Monday, and then got a new job the day after. The new job pays double what the old job paid, and they've moved into a nice duplex and are settling in for the wait. The parents-to-be sound very pleased with the way things are going, and we're very happy for them. Also, #1 says that he likes #2's partner as "she's good for him."

My cousin with the 9 kids (yes, they're mormon) also got a new grand a couple of weeks ago too. I remember babysitting the daddy when he was only about 6 weeks old. I was maybe 14? Now he has a baby with a woman who also has an 18-yr-old kid. They've decided there's no point to marriage, as it rarely lasts anyway. I know this disappoints my pretty strait-laced cousin, but babies make her inordinately happy, so she's adjusting.

Just to round out the happy news, Rupert subbed for an indoor soccer team Sat. night that was going to have to forfeit for lack of players. He made 2 goals and an assist (if I'm remembering correctly), but his team still lost. The team was playing against his buddy from our neighborhood, and Rupert had just tagged along to watch. Both teams were High School level, with Rupert's team being mostly juniors. Rupert is in 7th grade, LOL, but it appears that he can hold his own.
