Sunday's Menu
Sunday, April 9th, 2006 05:55 pmThis morning's brunch was lovely. In fact, Mavis said, "it's so pretty, I don't want to eat it yet."
We had a delicious salad of spring greens, dungeness crab, mango, and avocado, dressed with a citrusy honey-ginger vinaigrette, and eggs poached in tomato juice and served up on multi-grain crumpetts. OJ and coffee were the beverages and the daffodils from last night were in full bloom this morning.
DH cleaned the crab and poached the eggs, I assembled the salad and dressing. It was a fun collaboration.
After spending a couple of hours at the mall with Mavis, I was ready for a snack this afternoon. I pulled out stuff we had in the refrigerator:
A chunky black olive tapenade, marinated mixed olives, oven-roasted tomatoes in olive oil, cornichons, a delightful blue cheese, an aged gouda, leftover mango, and Breton mini-crackers. Also, beer & wine. Mavis ate a couple things and then turned to me to say, "we snack better than normal people."
Me: We snack like rock stars.
She: Yeah!
Me: Actually, rock stars are probably eating Cheetos and Jelly Bellies right now.
She: We snack like Divas!
Me: Yes! Divas! ::high five::
So, Off to the kitchen to figure out dinner...
Yes. It really is "All About the Food." Sue me.
