Say "hey" WisCon
Monday, May 21st, 2012 09:59 pmI'm recycling last year's post for this. On the extremely off-chance someone who I don't already know is reading this and going to WisCon:
1. I am fairly short, middle aged, with short, dark blonde hair and green eyes. I live in the Madison area year-round so I have opinions.
2. I tend to be reserved in new situations, and more extroverted when I'm comfortable. WisCon brings out both of these aspects, sometimes within minutes or hours of each other. I like meeting new people, but I have to psych myself up to approach them.
3. However, I am approachable, and (usually) touchable. If I approach you, you can assume I found you compelling in some way, and will accept a hug or other form of friendly, platonic touching if that's your thing. If it's not, I am willing to keep my hands to myself, and I do try to remember to ask for permission before touching someone.
4. I don't have allergies or sensitivities to speak of, but I can be sensitive to strong scents. So I generally wear/use non-scented products, which I hope makes me user-friendly to my friends and acquaintances that do have allergies.
5. Given an opening, I will talk your ear off about food, beer, liquor, my job and fanfic. If I don't notice your eyes glazing over, it's totally fair to say, "Whoa, info overload!" or somesuch to shut me up (I am not easily offended).
6. This past year I didn't read a single one of my bookclub's (Beer and Marmalade) selections. I read nothing that wasn't work-related or fanfic or a re-read. But I still love science fiction, and WisCon.
7. WisCon is where I get my balancing dose of female interaction. I work in a male-dominated environment. I love me some fangirls, and I love dancing and squeeing and snuggling with them. Sometimes I'll even steal a kiss or two.
8. I go by Goldy all the time, including facebook, but it's not my given name. DW is generally my space for fannish discussion, LJ is my space for RL discussion/ranting, but I have the same handle both places. I'm also fullygoldy at hotmail, AOOO, Flickr or anywhere else (I don't Twitter or Tumblr yet, and don't plan to).
9. I haven't decided how I'm gonna blur the gender lines for this year's Genderfloomp, but I'm looking forward to the party.
